Above you will see two views illustrating the devastating impact of the floods in some parts of the Bourne Society Area at different times. The first photograph shows the Bourne in flood in front of the stables in Woldingham Road in 1995.
During late 2000 there was a huge flood caused by the rising of the Bourne spring. A large area of land was flooded from Caterham down to Purley, a distance of about 4 miles. The second image shows how the Bourne flooded Godstone Road, Whyteleafe, as a result of which the main road (the A22) was closed for a month
