Henry Morgan of Purley

Henry Morgan of Purley

Morgan’s The Newsagents traded in Purley High Street for 83 years.

Henry Morgan was also one of Purley’s first councillors, later becoming chairman of Coulsdon and Purley Urban District Council. This account of his life is written by Jean Hain who interviewed Olive Himsley, Henry Morgan’s youngest daughter, at age 91.

Olive Himsley survived another 13 years, dying on 6th September 2019 just five weeks short of her 105th birthday.

Since this volume is now out of print and unlikely to be reprinted, the Bourne Society has decided to make the full text available as a PDF document.
